The Janice Mason Art Museum
of Cadiz, KY,
mounts one of
its most important exhibitions to date. The Wier Show opens for a two-month run
on October 4. This exhibition presents works by some of the twentieth
century’s most well known contemporary artists. Chuck Close, Jasper Johns, Frank
Stella, Robert Rauschenberg, and Sol Lewitt are just a few of the important
artists whose art works will be presented in this show. A variety of media in
this exhibit includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and
textiles.
"We are incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to bring a collection of this
caliber to Cadiz," said Museum Board of Directors President Paula Lisowsky. "Mr.
and Mrs. Wier were most gracious to offer their collection, and when the
Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Commission agreed to underwrite the show, all of our
planning just came together. We couldn’t be more thrilled and grateful."
Pat and Dick Wier of Chicago have been collecting contemporary art for many
years. This exhibit at the Janice Mason Art Museum will be the first public
viewing of these selections from this private collection.
Partial funding has been
provided by the Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the Education, Arts and
Humanities Cabinet with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the
Cadiz - Trigg County Tourism Commission. Additional funding provided by
the National Forest Service - LBL.
