Internationally
known director and Trigg County native, Marci Woodruff spoke at the
Trigg County High School Little Theater on Sunday afternoon, April 20th. It is
the second in a lecture series this year sponsored by the Cadiz Arts
Center.
Marci is a Cadiz native
who has become a successful stage director. She now lives in
Pittsburgh, PA. She has directed plays in the U.S., Japan and
Europe. She has the distinction of being the first American Woman to
direct a play in the former Soviet Union.
There was a crowd
of about 45 at the Little Theater for her discussion. She covered
topics as varied as her childhood in Cadiz and the limitations she felt
on her creativeness to the wonderful opportunities she has had working
with famous actors and other directors and writers.
There were a
number of high school students in attendance and they asked many
questions which Marci seemed to enjoy answering. Many in the
audience stayed for an hour following the lecture to visit and ask
questions on a personal level. Marci was well received and we
appreciate her evangelical zeal for the theater and her promotion of
theater in Trigg County. |
