Shirley Johnson to Teach Silk Painting Class
at JMAM
Shirley Johnson has spent her life in the visual and performing arts as a
musician, artist, and theatre producer-director.
She holds a Bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees.
Shirley is retired from Murray State University and has her own
non-profit theatre production company, Twilight Cabaret Productions.
She has been a painter for over 12 years and is offering a beginning silk
painting workshop for the Janice Mason Art Museum.
The class will meet two evenings, October 21 and October 23, at 6:30 to
8:30 p.m. at the Museum. The fee
for the class is $35.00 for Museum members, and $40.00 for non-members which
includes a $20.00 kit of supplies. Each participant will have a wearable hand
painted scarf as a finished product. If
you would like a to have an image on your scarf, please bring a copy that is no
larger than 24 inches square.
Examples of the artist’s work may be seen in the Museum gift shop.

The deadline for registration is October 10.
Partial funding for the Museum has been provided by the Kentucky Arts
Council a state agency in the Education, Arts and Humanities Cabinet with
support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
