Primary and Intermediate PTA Exhibit - January 8, 2010. The annual PTA Elementary art exhibit has become a favorite and much expected exhibit in the community.  Art by K - 5th grade is displayed with a big opening night reception to meet the artists.  Not to be missed.

A Chocolate Affair! - Feb. 13, 2009.   Fairholme, 89 Main Street. This huge Chocolate event is a great opportunity for an elegant evening out and a terrific way to support the museum.  Held at Fairholme, (The John Street House) with live music and more chocolate then you have ever seen in one place.  What better chance to be able to eat to your heart's content?

Middle and High School Exhibit - February 5, 2010 - March 7, 2010.  Works by Trigg County High and Middle School students.  This is an exhilarating exhibit.  So many fresh ideas an a delightful insight to the emerging young artists of our community.

SKIT - theater production - "The Foreigner" - Performances March 12, 13 & 14 at the Trigg County High School Little Theater.  Open auditions February 2 and 6 at the Janice Mason Art Museum.  For more information watch this site or call the JMAM office: 270-522-9056.

Where We Are: From Dreams to Reality- Kentucky Women’s Photography Network, March 20 – April 25.  The members of this Network are a unique group of women who explore the visual through both digital and traditional photography in a variety of styles and subjects. This Network, open to all Kentucky women photographers, is thriving at a time of major change within photography, especially in the areas of digital capture and printing. All photographic techniques including film, digital, and scanned images are embraced by the group.

Big Band Dinner Dance - April 24, 2010.  JMAM's annual fundraiser.  This event was such a hit the last several  years that we have scheduled the same band again this year, The Temple Airs from Evansville, IN.  This event will be limited to 250 tickets.  Once again the dinner and dance will be held at Lake Barkley State Park convention center.  Again this year as an added attraction the rock band Cat Daddy will perform from 10 to 1 AM.

Mitchell Chamberlin - April 30 – June 20  Mitchell Chamberlain returns to Janice Mason Art Museum, having had a previous exhibit in 2000. His acrylic painting focus on the abstract elements found in nature, emphasizing form, texture, and patterns. He has exhibited in solo and juried shows across Tennessee as well as selected venues in Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama, and Georgia. 

SKIT - summer theater production - "Oliver" - Performances July 9, 10, 11, 16 & 17 at the Trigg County Little Theater. Audition dates to be announced. For more information watch this site or call the JMAM office: 270-522-9056.

James Archambeault, June 25 – August 22  For more than 20 years, James Archambeault has worked as an independent photographer specializing in nature and the landscape. He has the rare ability to capture the historic, archival, and artistic aspects of his photographic subjects. His award-winning craft is evident in the careful selection of time, season, and subjects in his beloved Kentucky. Archambeault has photographed four large format "coffee table" books:  KENTUCKY, 1982; KENTUCKY II, 1989; and KENTUCKY III, 1999; THE GIFT OF PLEASANT HILL, A SHAKER COMMUNITY IN KENTUCKY, 1991.

 

Art Tells a Story, August 27 – October 10 Folk artists Glenn Newman and Willie Rascoe Glenn Newman, Louisana native now living in Hazel, Kentucky, and Willie Rasoce, Trigg County artist, team up in this imaginative folk art exhibit Newman’s intricate drawings and etchings on gourds illustrate Cajun stories and folklore. Rascoe uses found wood, shell, bone and metal to create whimsical, three-dimensional sculptures.  

 

TBA - October - November

Festival of Trees - December 4, 2010 - December 31, 2010.  This event grows every year and each year the Christmas trees are more unique.  This is one of the most popular exhibits of the year.  Make it part of your Christmas tradition.  These Christmas trees are projects of civic organizations and businesses in the area.  The opening night is always the night of the Cadiz candle light Christmas parade.  Join us in celebration of the season.
