Silk Painting Workshop Offered at Museum
Back by popular demand, the Janice Mason Art
Museum will offer a two-evening workshop in silk painting with Shirley
Johnson. Our regular patrons are familiar with Shirley’s handpainted
scarves, ties, throws, and pillows offered in the Museum Shop and at
our Holiday Bazaar.
The workshop will be December 9 and 14 from
6:30—8:30 PM. Cost of the workshop will vary depending upon the item
chosen by the participant. The base cost is $20 for members and $25
for nonmembers which includes instruction and paints. Because we plan
to order just the silk items requested by the participants, students
must select an item when registering. Choices are: 9X54 inch scarf
($2), 15X60 inch scarf,wall hanging, or table runner($3), 2 yards of
fabric (for your own creative project)($10-$14, depending on width),
poncho ($18.29), sarong ($8.95), or umbrella ($18.95).
Registration MUST be received by November 24 to
insure delivery of the silks in time for the workshop. The class will
be limited to 12 participants.
Don’t miss this opportunity to make a
luxurious, one-of-a-kind holiday gift for yourself or someone else.
Please call Martha at the JMAM at 522-9056 to register. Partial
funding is provided by the Kentucky Arts Council, an agency in the
Commerce Department with support from the National Endowment for the
Arts.
