The Heard is a living museum celebrating Native people of the Southwest through its world famous collections, spectacular exhibitions, colorful festivals, artist demonstrations and residency programs.  With exhibition galleries, outdoor sculpture gardens, a trading post-style Shop & Bookstore and Southwestern-inspired cuisine at its Arcadia Farms at the Heard Café, the Heard Museum offers unrivalled experiences -- educational, entertaining, aesthetic and fun – of indigenous Southwestern cultures.  The Heard Museum’s galleries feature a variety of traditional and contemporary Native American art.  Especially noted is the museum’s broad collection of about 1,200 katsina dolls which includes a collection donated by the late Senator Barry M. Goldwater.  Work by top contemporary Native artists is also featured in the museum’s collection of fine art, which documents the 20th century development of the Native American Fine Art Movement.

The South Arkansas Arts Center is the cultural link for people living in South Arkansas and North Louisiana.  Because it is SAAC’s mission to educate and entertain it provides monthly gallery exhibits featuring local, regional and nationally acclaimed artists, a season of community theatre productions annually, classes for children and adults in visual arts, photography, ballet, music, and drama on site as well as Artists-in-Education in area schools.  SAAC’s 22,500 facility houses three art galleries, a ballet studio, a 206 seat theatre, a scene and costume shop, a photography studio, educational classroom space, and an open studio for artists offered free of charge to anyone in the community.

Located in historic MacArthur Park, the Arkansas Arts Center is the largest cultural institution in the state.  The elegant art galleries showcase the Arkansas Arts Center’s acclaimed drawing collection, the largest U.S. repository of watercolors and drawings by French Neo Impressionist painter Paul Signac, and its impressive collection of contemporary craft and prominent traveling exhibitions.  The Arkansas Arts Center includes a Children’s Theatre, Museum School, Best Impressions Restaurant, and Museum Shop, which features unique works by local and regional artists.

Hand built by Charles Lummis, and located along the Arroyo Seco, home of the southern California arts and crafts movement, the Lummis Home, a city, state, and national landmark, is a standing testament to a time when individuals believed in harmony with art and nature.  Built of concrete and faced with Arroyo stones, the two-story house has features inspired by the Native American pueblo, Spanish mission, and Craftsman architecture.  The L-shaped house was designed around a large sycamore that inspired the name “El Alisal” -- local Spanish for “place of the sycamores.”  El Alisal is surrounded by a two-acre waterwise garden featuring Mediterranean and California native plants.

The Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) is the only museum in the Western United States that exclusively features contemporary Latin American art.  Through the utilization of its permanent collection, traveling exhibitions, and programs, MoLAA educates a diverse Southern California audience about contemporary Latin American art.  MoLAA’s mission is to educate the American public about contemporary Latin American art (created by artists who have lived or worked in Latin America since World War II) through the establishment of a significant representative permanent collection and the presentation of dynamic exhibitions and related programs.

The Monterey Museum of Art features exhibitions from its collections of early California paintings, including renowned artists Armin Hansen, William Ritschel, August Gay, and E. Charlton Fortune.  The rich history of photography in Monterey is captured in significant works by Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Brett Weston, Dorothea Lange, Wynn Bullock, Carleton Watkins, and Imogen Cunningham, among many others.  Additionally, the museum hosts important traveling exhibitions from other institutions.  The Monterey Museum of Art at La Mirada, just a short two miles away, includes an historic house and gardens along with art galleries designed by architect Charles Moore.

The Asian Art Museum is the largest museum in North America devoted exclusively to Asian art, with masterworks from more than 40 Asian cultures, spanning 6,000 years.  Valued at more than $4 billion, the collection is San Francisco’s second most valuable asset after its real estate.  The entire ground floor is devoted to world-class special exhibitions, including a continuing series featuring contemporary Asian artists.  Thursday through Sunday, 12 noon to 4 pm, AsiaAlive! offers artist demonstrations, hands-on activities, videos, and a reading corner.  There are also frequent performances of Asian music and dance.  Café Asia presents a unique and affordable menu of delicacies from various cultures.  The museum reopened in 2003 in an expanded new home -- the city’s former main library, a 1917 Beaux Arts-style building recognized as one of San Francisco’s most important historic structures.  The renovation was designed by internationally renowned Italian architect Gae Aulenti famous for adapting a Paris train station into the Musée d’Orsay.

Interpreting the arts, culture, history and natural sciences of the world-famous Napa Valley, this museum features temporary and permanent exhibits, including the interactive exhibit California Wine: The Science of an Art and The Land and People of the Napa Valley.  Among the NVM collections are over sixty 19th century watercolors of native California wild flowers and the extensive Henry Evans portfolio of botanical prints.  Located on the verdant grounds of the historic Veterans Home of California, the Napa Valley Museum is an architectural jewel designed by Fernau and Hartman.  Weekend Community Education Programs included in Museum admission.  Docent tours and group rates are available upon request.

Since 1936, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center has housed all of the arts under one roof.  The Taylor Museum exhibits fine art from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, as well as pieces from its collection of Native American and Hispanic works of art.  The Performing Arts department produces a full schedule of Broadway musicals each season, a Play Series, and a Youth Repertory Workshop.  The Bemis School of Art offers diverse hands-on art classes to community members of all ages.  Note:  Reciprocal privileges may be restricted for special ticketed exhibitions, fundraisers, or other events.

The Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver (MCA) is an innovative forum for contemporary art that inspires and challenges all audiences, creating understanding and dialog about art of our time.  Formed in 1996, MCA provides Denver with its first major contemporary art museum. The Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts is a non-collecting alternative space. DCCA’S exhibitions and programs explore the boundaries of contemporary art and reflect cultural, political, religious and social issues. Considered one of the most innovative organizations in the region, the DCCA houses seven galleries, twenty-six artist studios, unique gift shop, high tech auditorium, and classroom. The DCCA presents nearly thirty exhibitions each year by local, regional and nationally recognized and emerging artists. Located in a spectacular 1908 landmark building just a few blocks from the White House at the corner of New York Avenue and 13th Street, the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) is the first museum dedicated solely to celebrating the diverse artistic achievements of women.  Since opening its doors in 1987, the museum has presented more than 160 solo and thematic exhibitions.  Its permanent collection contains works from the 16th century to the present, created by over 800 artists including Judith Leyster, Mary Cassatt, Camille Claudel, Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, Elizabeth Catlett, Lee Krasner, Helen Frankenthaler and Louise Bourgeois, along with special collections of 18th-century silver tableware and botanical prints.  The museum’s education programs include tours, role model workshops, family festivals, and literary, music, and film series.  The museum’s Library and Research Center (LRC) contains extensive resources about women artists of all periods and nationalities, as well as a collection of artists’ books, which are exhibited periodically.

The only museum of its kind in the United States, the Textile Museum is devoted to the preservation, study, and exhibition of handmade textiles.  The Museum’s collections contain over 17,000 textiles and carpets that date from 3,000 BC to the present.  Founded in 1925, the Museum presents changing exhibitions which highlight the richness and diversity of the textile arts, such as Oriental carpets, weavings from both Eastern and Western Hemispheres, archeological textiles, contemporary fiber art, and American quilts.  The Textile Learning Center provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about how textiles are made and the importance of their cultural and artistic significance.

Historic Spanish Point is a unique, 30-acre site overlooking beautiful Little Sarasota Bay in Osprey, Florida.  The museum preserves and interprets 4,000 years of history, beginning with an archaeology exhibition housed inside a prehistoric shell midden.  The museum also presents Florida's pioneer life through a homestead house, citrus packinghouse, chapel, and pioneer cemetery.  Additionally, Historic Spanish Point features formal gardens and lawns created in the early 20th century by Mrs. Potter Palmer as part of her winter estate.  Nature trails and boardwalks allow visitors to explore Florida's native plant communities, and the site also features a Butterfly Garden. The Museum of Fine Arts is housed in a handsome Palladian-style building on the spectacular downtown waterfront.  The MFA was founded by Margaret Acheson Stuart and opened to the public in 1965.  It is the only place on Florida’s west coast where you can discover 4,500 objects extending from antiquity to the present day, and includes works by such major French artists as Frangonard, Vigee-Lebrun, Corot, Cezanne, Monet, Berthe, Morisot, Gaugin, Renior, and Rodin.  The Museum also has significant works by the American artists Thomas Moran, George Inness, Robert Henri, George Bellows, and Georgia O’Keeffe.  Native American, African, Asian, and pre-Columbian art are also on view.  Galleries are devoted to photography and Steuben Glass, and the MFA had two gardens, one devoted to sculpture.

The Salvador Dalí Museum is the permanent home of the world's most comprehensive collection of the renowned Spanish artist's work.  Compiled by the A. Reynolds Morse and Eleanor Morse over a 45-year period, it is celebrated for its 95 oil paintings, and features excellent examples from Dalí's four major periods.  With oils spanning from 1917 through 1970, the collection provides an excellent overview of Dalí's major themes and symbols.  Characterized by its diversity, it includes the Impressionist and Cubist styles of his early period, abstract work from his transition to Surrealism, the famous surrealist canvases for which he is best known, and examples of his preoccupation with religion and science during his classic period.

Founded in 1945, the Georgia Museum of Art was established with 100 paintings donated by Alfred H. Holbrook, a retired attorney from New York.  Collaborating with Professor Lamar Dodd, head of the University of Georgia’s department of art in 1945, Mr. Holbrook sought space for the collection in the basement of the old university library.  The basement officially opened to the public as a museum on November 8, 1948.  The overwhelming response to the museum and its popularity around the state prompted the State Legislature to designate the museum the official state museum of art in 1982.  In its new building, constructed in the museum has 52,000 square feet with 9,000 feet of gallery space.  The first floor of the new building holds the 200-seat M. Smith Griffith Auditorium where lectures, films, workshops, and dance recitals are held.
