"The Colors of Life"
The works of Mary Marten

The Janice Mason Art Museum  announces the opening of The Colors of Life, an exhibit of almost 40 oil paintings  by Nashville-area artist Mary Martens. Ms. Martens is known for her realistic, though unique views of architecture, landscapes, statues, portraiture, and large, close views of flowers.  Her use of vibrant, bold color and interesting perspective produces luminous work with a distinctive style.

Mary Martens' exhibit  further illustrates the breadth of styles the Museum goes to great lengths to display.  While her subject is traditional her perspective is anything but.  Her unique style is illuminating and wrought with feeling.  Indeed her passion seems to leap from canvas to canvas.

This is one of those exhibits that one must return to visit over and over again.  Each visit reveals something new.  The exhibit opens August 9 and closes September 9, 2002.

Mrs. Martens' prints and cards are for sale in the Museum Shop and the options are exciting.  With this exhibit the Shop is fairly bursting with selections and most all of the original paintings are for sale.
