Stain Glass and Watercolor Classes to be Offered at Janice
Mason Art Museum
The Janice Mason Art
Museum is hosting a stain glass workshop which will be taught by Vickie
Karrigan. The first session will be on Thursday, April 11th at 9:00 A.M.
to twelve noon at the Museum. There will be a total of four, three-hour
sessions, each subsequent Thursday at the same time. If you are interested
in taking the class, but can not attend during the day, please contact the
museum and a night workshop can be added.
The class will use
the copper foil method rather then the leaded technique. Stain glass
crafting is a wonderful hobby, but it is rather expensive since it requires so
many tools and pieces of equipment. The cost of the class is $125.00 which
is a bargain compared to stain glass classes offered in Nashville. This
fee includes $45.00 worth of tools (breaking pliers, running pliers and cutter)
that participants will own at the close of the class. The participant will
also pay for the glass used in their individual project. The price is
determined by the color and kind of glass and will vary from approximately $10
to $20. Each participant will make a panel approximately 12 inches by 12
inches. The required pre-registration may be accomplished by contacting
the museum at 522-9056. We are delighted that Vicki Karrigan will be
conduction this special workshop series at the Janice Mason Art Museum.
The Museum is also
offering a water color class which will have seven sessions that will begin Tuesday,
April 9, and meet at 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.. All subsequent classes will
meet Meet on Tuesdays at 6:30 P.M..
This will be an
exciting adventure in watercolor with local artist and retired art teacher,
Margaret (Peggy) Kemp, as the instructor. The class is open to all levels
of watercolorist from beginners to accomplished. The cost is $25.00 per
student for the total seven sessions. Participants will need to furnish
their own supplies. A supply list will be available from the Museum.
The required pre-registration may be accomplished by contacting the museum at
522-9056.
