Exploring Art in
Chicago September
17-19, 2004

Janice
Mason
Art Museum is sponsoring a trip to
Chicago. This came about as a result of the
Wier Collection we exhibited in the fall of 2003. We are excited to take you to
visit the Wiers in their home to view their entire art collection, as well as
several other private collections and galleries. Chicago
is a fabulous city full of art and cultural events and sights. Please come join
us for this opportunity to see these private collections and have fun in the “Windy
City”.
WE will leave
Cadiz at
6am on Friday the 17th of
September from the Museum on a 55 passenger luxury chartered motor coach. We
will arrive at our downtown
Chicago hotel in the afternoon. After
check-in you will have the remainder of Friday at your leisure. Our hotel will
be conveniently located within walking distance of many of the areas great
sights. There will be several optional group outings to choose from (at an
extra cost). For example, The Seurat exhibit at the Art Institute ($15. per
person) or the wonderful river boat tour of the
Chicago architectural sights ($25. per person)
On Saturday we will have the extraordinary privilege of visiting the
Wier home, and then we will then stroll through their lovely restored
neighborhood to three other homes to see other private art collections. We will
stop for lunch and continue on to visit three famous glass art galleries in the
area. The Terra Museum of American Art is nearby and we may visit there as
well, if time allows. This will be a full day of viewing around
10am to 6pm so be sure and wear
comfortable footwear.
The evening will be at your leisure. Chicago
is full of all kinds of interesting options, a list of activities, restaurants
and sights will be provided. Theater, blues music and the famous Second City
Comedy Club are a few of the highlights for the evening, as well as any kind of
dining experience you could want.
Sunday morning will be free for your last enjoyment of this
fascinating city. The bus will leave our hotel at
noon to bring us back to
Cadiz.
The cost is $325.00 per person double occupancy. A
nonrefundable reservation deposit of $200.00 is due by August 7 with the
remaining $125.00 due on Sept 1. This price includes the transportation costs
to and from
Chicago, two nights at the hotel, double
occupancy, and the art tours on Saturday. All other sightseeing tours, entrance
fees, food, transportation will be at your expense.
