"THE COLORS OF LIFE" OPENS AT MUSEUM
The Janice Mason Art Museum of Cadiz, Kentucky announces the opening of The
Colors of Life, an exhibit of almost 40 oil paintings and prints by
Nashville-area artist Mary Martens. Ms. Martens is known for her realistic,
though unique views of architecture, landscapes, statues, portraiture, and
large, close views of flowers. Her use of vibrant, bold color and
interesting perspective produces luminous work with a distinctive style.
For the duration of the exhibit, the Museum Shop will feature Ms. Martens’
prints and note cards. (Museum members receive a ten percent discount on
purchases.)
Mary Martens has studied under many notable artists such as Daniel Greene and
Shirley Pharris. She has a background in graphic art design and holds a
teaching degree in art. She is a member of the Tennessee Art League and
the Tennessee Art Guild.
The Colors of Life opens August 9 and runs through September 9. An opening
reception from 6:30 to 8:30 on August 10 will give members the opportunity to
meet Ms. Martens and discuss her work. “Ms. Martens’ work is so beautiful
and filled with light,” said Museum Board President Paula Lisowsky.
“This exhibit will appeal to almost everyone. We’re fortunate to have
Mary in our neighborhood.”
The Museum is open 10:00 – 4:00 Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and
Saturdays, and from 1:00 – 4:00 on Sundays. For more information, call

funding has been provided by The Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the

for the Arts.
