Bandarra Exhibit
Cadiz, KY—The newest exhibit at the Janice
Mason Art Museum, “The Iron Hammer—Works by George Bandarra” opens July 22.
Hand-forged iron and more exotic metals combine to create sculpture, both artful
and decorative. The exhibit also contains photographs of Bandarra’s work on
location.
George Bandarra lives in
Murray and has more than 30 years experience in forging iron. He is well-known
in the world of metal arts and has received six international awards, competing
among artists from 28 countries. He is a member of the National Ornamental
Metals Association, and served on the editorial advisory committee of
“Fabricator” magazine, in which he has published three articles. Bandarra is
currently producing a video to be shown at the National Ornamental Metals
convention in New Orleans in March 2005.
Sculpture commissions include
recent works for Murray State University, the Kentucky State Parks system, Cairo
Historic Library. Three of his sculptures are registered with the Smithsonian
Institute’s National Museum of American Art and Cultural Properties.
Everyone is invited to visit
with Mr. Bandarra at the opening reception on Thursday, July 22 beginning at
6:30. This exhibit will show through August 28.
The Janice Mason Art Museum is
open Mondays – Saturdays from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM and on Sundays from 1:00 PM –
