Poetry Contest
Announced
April is National Poetry Month, so as part of our tenth anniversary
celebration, JMAM is sponsoring a poetry contest. The winners will have
the opportunity to share their poems with the community on August 24
when Kentucky’s Poet Laureate visits the JMAM for a reading.
Cash prizes will be awarded in
five categories: Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and adult. Entries are due
April 25 and may be turned in to students’ school principals, or
directly to the JMAM. They can also be emailed to
jmam@bellsouth.net . Vulgar,
profane, or obscene poetry will be disqualified.

Trigg County High School announced that Goody's
clothing stores have selected our high school to receive a grant and will be
presenting a check for $10,000 for the lights and sound equipment for
the little theater. The public is encouraged to
attend. The presentation will be at the Little Theater, May 5th at
2:00 PM. Let's show our support and pack the theater.
A minimum of $30,000 is needed to
replace this 1974 vintage equipment. The school board has voted to
match these grants with $20,000. We still have two grant
applications to hear from.
258 comments were posted to the Hamburger
Helper web application for a grant of $15,000. We appreciate everyone
who took the time to comment. This illustrates the commitment this
community has for the performing arts in Trigg County. As soon as we
know the results from that application we will announce it here.
The deadline for awarding the grant is May 15, 2008.
