Do you want to be in a Play?
Cadiz, KY. If you have
every wondered what goes on backstage now may be your chance to find
out. The Janice Mason Art Museum (JMAM) in partnership with the Trigg
County Schools announces the first of several theater workshops leading
up to a musical theater performance in June. The first workshop, Play
Production, will be held Wednesday afternoon February 15th at
3:30 and repeated Thursday night at 6:30 at the high school little
theater.
This workshop will be
about an hour long and is free and open to students and adults. Those
attending will learn the various aspects of producing a play and how it
all fits together. Portia Ezell will be teaching the workshop and she
says, “There’s always something for everyone in the theater”. Anyone
wanting to attend should contact Melissa Higgins at the school by
calling 522-2220 extension 2042.
Mrs. Ezell says this
workshop will cover directing, set & costume design, music and a host of
other things. She will also explain how all these parts come together
to create one magnificent play. She also says, “If you attend the
workshop you are not committed to work on the play, nor do you have to
attend a workshop to be in the play”.
This will be an excellent
opportunity to find out what you are in for should you be interested in
volunteering to help with the full scale Broadway musical production
scheduled for this spring. The committee has announced the community
production will be “Seussical the Musical”.
The next workshop in the
series will be costuming and makeup and will be held February 22 and
23. Future workshops will cover set design & construction, music and
acting. Check the JMAM website for complete information: www.jmam.org.
The Kentucky Arts
Council, a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet, provides operational
support funding for the Janice Mason Art Museum with state tax dollars
and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, which
believes that a great nation deserves great art.
