JMAM Winter Classes
Cadiz, KY--The Janice Mason Art Museum will
offer three adult classes beginning February 21. Beginning Stained
Glass, taught by Vicki Karrigan is a perennial favorite. Participants
will finish a project over the course of the six weeks, and will learn
the basics of transferring designs, cutting, fitting and soldering using
copper foil method. The class meets Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7:30.
Tuition is $100 for members and $125 for nonmembers, which includes
tools and some consumable materials. The cost of glass is extra and can
vary widely depending on the project selected by the student.
Beginning Pottery is another local
favorite, taught by well-known local artist and teacher Mitchell
Bryant. The class covers the basics of working with clay and includes
both wheel-thrown and hand built ceramics. The class meets six Tuesday
evenings from 5:30-7:30. Tuition is $60 for members and $65 for
nonmembers.
A new painting class debuts this
winter: “Exploring Acrylics Using Watercolor Methods” will be taught by
well-known local artist and teacher Peggy Kemp. This class will
emphasize the inherent beauty and workability of acrylic paints, and
will demonstrate their versatility using nontraditional methods. The
class meets six Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7:30. Tuition is $60 for
members and $65 for nonmembers. Minimal materials will be furnished;
other materials will be available for purchase in the Museum Shop. Call

The Kentucky Arts Council, a state
agency in the Commerce Cabinet, provides operational support funding for
the Janice Mason Art Museum with state tax dollars and federal funding
from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great
nation deserves great art.
