Beginning June 16, Cadiz Community Arts Center/JMAM/SKIT is proud to present The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection: Fifty Works for Fifty States, organized by the Speed Art Museum, Louisville, Kentucky.  Over a period of four decades and with modest means, this extraordinary, deeply thoughtful and committed couple assembled a highly personal and historically significant collection of over 4,000 works of art.

The Vogel Collection includes works by some of the most important artists to emerge in the 1960s such as Lynda Benglis, Pat Steir and Richard Tuttle.  Drawings were a particular strength and focus of the Vogels; collecting and their subsequent gifts to museums.

All objects in this exhibition were gifts to the Speed Art Museum on behalf of the Commonwealth of Kentucky as part of THE DOROTHY AND HERBERT VOGEL COLLECTION; FIFTY WORKS FOR FIFTY STATES, a joint initiative of the Trustees of the Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection and the National Gallery of Art, with generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
