SKIT Announces
Summer Musical
The SKIT committee has chosen a play for the summer. We will be
producing the musical "Alice in Wonderland".
There
will be parts for
40 + roles of all the traditional characters for all
ages.
Lewis Carroll’s unflappable young heroine takes a tumble down an
enchanted rabbit hole to an off-kilter world of mock turtles, dancing
flora, punctual rabbits and mad tea parties, where playing cards hold
court and nothing is as it seems. Whimsy and wordplay are the order of
the day in this imaginative musical adaptation of a favorite of
generations of children, adults and psychoanalysts!

Trigg County Little Theater Receives Funds
Goody's clothing stores has awarded the Trigg County High School Little
Theater $10,000 to be matched with $20,000 from the school board to
purchase light and sound equipment.
The BIG check presentation on May 5 was very exciting. Several
members of the public attended as well as a number of high school
classes. This facility is used by the entire community not just the schools.
Lets show our support!

Internationally
known director and Trigg County native, Marci Woodruff spoke at the
Trigg County High School Little Theater on Sunday afternoon, April 20th. It is
the second in a lecture series this year sponsored by the Cadiz Arts
Center.
Marci is a Cadiz native
who has become a successful stage director. She now lives in
Pittsburgh, PA. She has directed plays in the U.S., Japan and
Europe. She has the distinction of being the first American Woman to
direct a play in the former Soviet Union.
There was a crowd
of about 45 at the Little Theater for her discussion. She covered
topics as varied as her childhood in Cadiz and the limitations she felt
on her creativeness to the wonderful opportunities she has had working
with famous actors and other directors and writers.
There were a
number of high school students in attendance and they asked many
questions which Marci seemed to enjoy answering. Many in the
audience stayed for an hour following the lecture to visit and ask
questions on a personal level. Marci was well received and we
appreciate her evangelical zeal for the theater and her promotion of
theater in Trigg County. |

SKIT Joins JMAM
JMAM announces that Southern KY Independent Theater (SKIT) has
joined with us to serve as the performance arm of the Cadiz Arts Center.
For two years the museum has sponsored community musicals in Cadiz. This sizable
group has not had a name until now. SKIT is an old community theater
group that has agreed to join JMAM to help fulfill the long term goal of
providing performance art to the region.
Watch this site for future announcements of this year's community play
selection and audition and performance dates.
