Two Generations of art
Cadiz, KY-The Janice Mason Art Museum will present the work of two Kentucky
artists with the opening of "Two Generations." The paintings of Tom Kelly of
Aurora and his niece Allie Kelly will be featured from April 29-May 28. Tom
is a graduate of Murray State University and a former Calloway County
teacher. Kentucky-born, Allie received her BFA from Western State College
in Colorado and currently makes her home in Scottsville, Virginia.
Tom works mostly in oils and chooses figures as his primary subject
matter, while Allie works in oil and watercolor, in a more abstract style.
"An exhibit combining works by these two family members offers viewers a
peak at two distinctly-different styles that are connected in a way that may
not be apparent on the surface," said Museum administrator Paula Lisowsky.
"Two Generations" will premiere at the opening reception on April 29 from
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will be featured through May 28. Gallery hours are
Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, and 1:00 PM-4:00 PM on Sundays. More
information is available by calling the Museum at (270) 522-9056 or by
visiting the website at www.jmam.org.
The Janice Mason Art Museum is a membership-funded, 501(c)(3) non-profit
community arts center formed in 1998 to bring the arts to the people of
Cadiz, Trigg County and the surrounding area. The Kentucky Arts Council, a
state agency in the Commerce Cabinet, provides operational support funding
for the Janice Mason Art Museum with state tax dollars and federal funding
from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation
deserves great art.
