the beauty of the indigenous people and landscape. This is a phenomenal

Dick Dougherty
-
June 24 - August 5, 2005.
Museum Series Paintings:
"On the surface the subject matter in these paintings appears to be just still
lifes with fruit. However, each of these paintings discusses various life
issues that are sometimes public events and at other times more personal
events. Some of the issues that are being dealt with are obvious to the viewer
and some are not."
Digital Instillation Images:
These images evolved from an interest in the Mars Rover images from space
exploration missions. The artist begins his own journey by documenting things
(locally) in the same fashion then installs the images to "discover that the
very mundane and everyday can have great interest".
Flip Schrameijer,
Light and Air, Wind and Water
- Aug. 12 - Sept. 24, 2005. This internationally known artist from Holland will
present works in watercolor and etching. The exhibit consists of over 150
drawings and paintings spanning 60 years. JMAM is hosting the inaugural exhibit
of this artist in the United States.
Brian Dudley Barrett says in the exhibit catalog:
“An artist’s sense of place should never be underestimated. Flip Schrameijer’s
life’s work illustrates well this maxim, not by his seeking out the
spectacular, but by his contact with the more gentle, contemplative, subdued
horizons of his surroundings.” Barrett further says: “(Schrameijer). . . brings
simplicity of line and form, and the intensity, of this broad landscape into
balance.”

JMAM Juried Art Show
- Oct. 1 - Nov. 27, 2005
Festival of Trees
-
December 3, 2005 - December 31, 2005. This event grows every year and each
year the Christmas trees are more unique. The popularity of this event has
caused the Museum to limit the number of trees to 30. These Christmas
trees are projects of civic organizations and businesses in the area. This
year there will also be a gingerbread house contest. The
opening night is always the night of the Cadiz candle light Christmas parade and
plenty of Main Street and Museum volunteers will be in Dickens' costume.
Join us in celebration of the season.
